REVIEW:

Graphtec CSX300 large format scanner

Introduction

Scanners4CAD were supplied with a Graphtec CSX300 large format scanner running the latest Scanning Master 21+ software to review.

The Graphtec CSX300.

We had previously used the Graphtec SP200W Scan Print system, an entry-level MFP (multi-function peripheral) offering an inexpensive all-in-one scan, print and copy capability.

We were impressed with the SP200W's SK200 scanner, less so with its supplied printer and Scanning Arts software. Fifteen months ago we felt that if the SK200 could be unbundled from its printer and sold standalone with better software at an attractive price, it would have huge appeal in the emerging new market for low-cost, large format technical document scanners. It was not to be.

of Paradigm's BERTL Award
winning EIS Supra MFP system.

Instead the SK200 went on to success as an OEM scanner used in MFP systems, like the KIP 3000 and Paradigm's EIS Supra. Graphtec have now significantly updated the SK200, renamed it the CSX300 and released it as a standalone scanner. Aimed at the entry-level AEC, CAD and GIS market, it now includes their standard technical document scanning software, Scanning Master 21+ and is available at a very attractive price.

(Note: Although the CSX300 is based on the SK200, it does not replace it. The SK200 continues to be used as an OEM device. Further, in April 2008 the SK200 was finally made available as a standalone 8-bit scanner in the UK. It is currently unavailable standalone in the USA.)
