Colortrac has released new firmware and drivers for Smart Ci and Gx+ wide format scanner ranges.

Installation will give users of Ci40C model a doubling of the large format colour scanning speed to 1.67ips and all Ci and Gx+ users a new in-scanner Auto Size Finder (ASF or autosizing) that detects wide format media size and displays it on the scanner control panel.

ASF replaces the software-based media detection in ScanWorks and SmartLF All-in-One giving more effective media size detection plus a visual check on the scanner control panel for the operator before the wide format scan starts. Also, wide format scanning productivity is dramatically improved as the large format scan process no longer includes the time overhead of media size detection. These substantial improvements are available at no cost by downloading the new firmware and driver.

The new firmware will double the scan speed on SmartLF Ci40C large format scanner models to 1.67ips from 0.83ips (at 200dpi). This large format scanning improvement is gained on all Colortrac scan applications irrespective of which version of SmartLF All-in-One or ScanWorks is being used.

Auto Size Finder works in-scanner by examining the document edges using the full facilities of the scanner making the process much more effective. ASF can be toggled On/Off through the scanner menu system and set to display document size in metric or imperial units. The feature is partially implemented in ScanWorks and SmartLF All-in-One and is used by selecting "auto paper size" from the media drop-down menu. ASF is available on all models of SmartLF Ci and Gx+ wide format scanners.
