German scanning software specialists, SCP Software GmbH of Aachen, Germany, have provided Handlerbau, a major Austrian-based construction company, with a complete print-management solution that has taken the panic out of meeting urgent deadlines.

The throughput of 12,000 sqm per year produced by 27 CAD operators is now handled with ease by SCP reprocontrol.net software in conjunction with an HP 4500 printer and a bayCompact online folding machine purchased in May 2007.

"Typically about 100 of these plans come in shortly before closing time, but have to be printed and folded by 5:30am next morning" Fruehstueck explained. The volume of plans from Handlerbau's external contractors, as well as with their own CAD output, made the workload too much for their existing HP 500 and Oce diazo machine. Handlerbau initially considered installing an Oce TCS 500 system, but long-term supplier CAD Zubehoer outlined the benefits of the reprocontrol.net complete solution via a demonstration.

Handlerbau was immediately impressed, and the subsequent evaluation installation convinced the company it was the right choice.

Of all 27 CAD operators, only two have Administrator Privileges. Three operators can access all queues and adjust the job priorities. All other CAD users can only access their own jobs. Following corporate IT guidelines, the reprocontrol server is safely installed in Handlerbau's secure datacenter, from which point it remotely operates the bayCompact folding machine. And equally importantly, machine status information is monitored by the administrator on a remote basis.

SCP say that reprographers as well as CAD and GIS-applications users will benefit from new functions in reprocontrol.net 4.2. Among the new features in reprocontrol.net 4.2 are complex printset nesting and enhanced backchanneling which is is able to route print jobs when inks or media of the printer in use are running short. Automated nesting of complex printsets according to the roll width allows the user to save paper and printing costs. It offers universal previewing of HPGL, Postscript and DWF file formats from the browser client. It also supports printer queues from Unix and Linux based systems as well as full Vista compatibility for Windows operating systems.
